Panelboard

Definition

A panelboard is a collection of service disconnect switches, along with switches to major branch lines (feeders), mounted together in a panel. It includes buses and may come with or without switches and/or automatic overcurrent protective devices for the control of light, heat, or power circuits.

Purpose

Panelboards distribute electrical power to various circuits within a building, providing a centralized point for managing and protecting electrical systems. They ensure safe and efficient operation by including overcurrent protection and disconnect switches.
