Switchboard

Definition

A switchboard is an apparatus consisting of a panel on which measuring, controlling, and other devices are arranged so that a number of circuits may be measured and controlled. It typically includes a large single panel, frame, or assembly of panels having switches, overcurrent, and other protective devices, buses, and instruments mounted on the face or back or both.

Purpose

The purpose of a switchboard is to distribute electrical power efficiently and safely to various circuits within a building or facility, providing a centralized location for controlling and monitoring multiple electrical circuits.
